MATLAB Work: Faced a tough project to find the motion equation for a system using springs, mass, and dampers. I initially picked the wrong solution type, which gave us incorrect results. With help from our professor, we fixed our calculations and got it right.
Using MATLAB to See Vibrations: We used MATLAB to make graphs that showed how these systems move. This made it easier to understand what's happening in the system.
Working with Others
How We Worked Together: Our group had six people, making it hard to find times when everyone could meet. So, we split into smaller groups based on who was available when. This way, everyone got to work on different parts, and we could help each other out more effectively.
Solving Problems Together: There was a time when one of us broke down the motion equation step by step. Even though we changed his solution at first, his detailed work helped us a lot later on with other projects.
Real-World Applications
Using What We Learned: The things we learned can help solve real problems, like making a bike ride smoother and quieter. Understanding the parts of the bike as a system of springs, mass, and dampers can show us how to improve it.
Skills Learned
Getting Better at MATLAB: I learned how to work with complex numbers, use matrices, and write loops in MATLAB. These skills are essential for analyzing how things move.
Understanding Mechanical Vibrations: I learned different ways to figure out how damped systems move and how to use mathematical tools like Fourier series and Laplace transforms to model vibrations.
Looking Back and Ahead
What I Learned: Working together really helps when trying to understand tough concepts. Also, being good at coding and making graphs is super important in engineering.
Using This in the Future: I'll value working in groups more and keep improving my coding skills. These are really important for solving engineering problems.
